On Pentecost Sunday, the Chapel Choir of Pembroke College, Oxford released Yn Devotione, their first new album in 20 years.

Earlier this Spring, Pembroke JRF Revd Dr Oliver Wright, part of the Religion and the Frontier Challenges postdoctoral research programme, spoke at a conference on AI hosted by Boston College. The conference theme, ‘Machine Logos: Persons, Language and AI’, offered Dr Wright the opportunity to explore the complex philosophical issues that arise from communication between humans and AI chatbots.

Two Pembroke College theologians have recently launched an important policy report on child marriage in Pakistan, in partnership with UNICEF and the National Commission for the Rights of the Child (NCRC), a government body with responsibility for child protection. 

A new study, co-authored by Pembroke Stipendiary Lecturer in Medicine Dr Jack Amiry, examines how O&G clinicians and learners in a UK teaching hospital understand and use gender-inclusive language, revealing how this varies across generations and hierarchical levels. 

Research by Pembroke Stipendiary Lecturer Dr Diprajan Chatterjee has recently been published in the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters. Titled ‘Emergence of a Fluctuating Ground State in Y-Kapellasite under Pressure’, Dr Chatterjee’s paper is an important step in understanding quantum magnetism and quantum interactions in materials under pressure. 

Pembroke Professor and Tutorial Fellow in Philosophy James Read has been awarded a Mid-Career Fellowship by The British Academy. These awards aim to support outstanding individual researchers with excellent research proposals, as well as to promote public understanding and engagement with humanities and social sciences. 

Seventy-two years after Sir Roger Bannister ran his record-breaking mile at Iffley Track, Pembroke students and staff came together this week to run the Bannister Community Mile in honour of his contributions to athletics, to neurology, and to the College.

Former Lord Chief Justice and Pembroke alumnus and Honorary Fellow Lord Burnett of Maldon (1976, Jurisprudence) has been appointed by King Charles to the prestigious Order of the Garter, one of Britain’s oldest and most senior honours.
