Recognising colleagues who have made a difference to lives outside the UK through the University’s resources, expertise and insights, this year the Making a Difference Globally Award celebrated WildCRU’s outstanding contribution to conservation and community engagement.

WildCRU, which is part of the University’s Department of Biology, aims to transform wildlife conservation through world-class research, training and implementation. The group combines conservation research with action, with members from more than forty countries working across multiple continents to deliver positive local impact for people and wildlife.

Professor Amy Dickman, WildCRU Director and Pembroke SRF, reflects: “I am so thrilled that our amazing team has received a Vice Chancellor’s Award. Our work involves so many diverse people, including researchers, support staff, field teams, students, donors and others, and it was wonderful to have that collective commitment recognised at the highest level in the University.”

At an awards ceremony hosted by the Vice Chancellor on 4th June, WildCRU was praised for the way they share Oxford expertise globally to build local capacity, support equitable livelihoods, strengthen policy, and improve coexistence between people and wildlife.
