Guest Information: FAQs
If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us: eventsoffice@pmb.ox.ac.uk
Check In: from 2.00 pm
Check Out: by 9.00 am (or before your first morning session, whichever is earlier)
Due to the high volume of guests coming and going during conference season, the turn-around period required for bedrooms is quite short. Therefore it is very important that check out time is observed and keys are returned on time.
There is a £20 fine per hour for the late return of room keys/cards.
On arrival, visitors check in at the Porters' Lodge where a room key or card will be issued if staying overnight. The Porters’ Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day.
Please be aware that the College gate is usually locked at 7pm, reopening at 7am. If arriving between these times, please ring the bell for entrance.
On occasion early check in or late check out may be arranged. Please check with the Conference & Events Office: eventsoffice@pmb.ox.ac.uk
There is a luggage room situated near the Lodge. If arriving before check-in time, or checking out in the morning before the end of your conference programme, and you require luggage storage, please ask the Porters.
Please be aware that Pembroke College is first and foremost an academic institution, and as such may not be able to provide the facilities which guests might expect to find in a dedicated hotel. Our bedrooms are designed for student life and have been built and refurbished at varying times over the past four centuries, so you will experience a great range in size, style and condition. We hope this adds to the unique feeling of your stay!
Rooms are serviced daily on weekdays and linen is changed weekly for longer stays.
We provide soap, a hand towel and small shower towel per person in the bedrooms. To reduce single-use plastic we do not provide individual shampoo and conditioner bottles and recommend bringing your own. Hairdryers are also not provided in rooms, but may be requested from the Lodge (subject to availability) if you forget to bring one with you.
Smoking, candles and fragrance sticks are not permitted inside bedrooms. Please note – the smoke detectors are very sensitive and excessive use of aerosols near the detector may also set off the alarm.
Please do not use irons in any of the bedrooms.
International guests; please ensure you bring a relevant UK adapter for electrical devices and appliances to avoid damage to our electrical system.
There are three self-service laundry facilities on site with card-operated washing and drying machines (£2 per wash, £1.20 per dry), irons and ironing boards. Please consult your College map for locations, or ask at the Lodge.
Children under the age of 16 can only accompany guests overnight under special circumstances and with prior consent from the College. Please contact the Conference & Events Office with any such requests: eventsoffice@pmb.ox.ac.uk
Breakfast for conference guests is generally served 8am – 9am in the Hall unless organised otherwise by your conference organiser. Please check your conference schedule for specific details.
Breakfast is not usually included in 'room only' private individual accommodation bookings. Please check your booking confirmation for details. Our onsite College café, Farthings Café, is located in the Rokos Quad and is open Monday - Friday from 8am. It has an excellent range of hot and cold beverages and breakfast items. All guests are welcome to use this facility throughout their stay.
Free wireless internet connection is accessible throughout the College for conference guests only. A username and password specific to your conference will be issued with your room key/card on arrival.
Due to the University's internet safety policy, B&B and 'room only' guests do not have access to the College's private network. Access to the public WiFi network The Cloud is available instead under their standard terms and conditions.
Pembroke’s on-site College café, Farthings Café, is located in the Rokos Quad and is open Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm.
All guests are welcome to use this facility throughout their stay.
College policy forbids smoking, candles or fragrance sticks of any type inside any buildings. Aside from the risk of fire, the smoke detectors may activate the alarms and result in a false emergency callout.
Please note – the detectors are very sensitive and excessive use of aerosols near the detector may also set off the alarm.
There are smoking pillars in the Quads – please make use of these and do not litter cigarette ends.
Any personal belongings left behind after a function will be held in the Conference & Events Office for a maximum of 7 days. If they are unclaimed by this time they will be disposed of.
If you have any concerns or issues during your visit between the hours of 9am - 5pm, please drop into the Events Office which can be found in Albion House in the Rokos Quad. If your issue is outside of these times, the Duty Porter in the Lodge will be happy to help as best they can.
