Academic, Personal & Professional Support
At Pembroke we’re committed to helping you thrive academically. Our friendly Study Skills Tutor runs Pembroke's Academic, Personal & Professional Skills Hub.
The Skills Hub offers all Pembroke undergraduates lectures, workshops, and 1:1 mentoring on the skills needed for a successful time at Oxford and beyond.
Dr Dyedra Morrissey, our Study Skills Tutor, is available to give support, advice and assistance with everything from essay writing and note taking, to time management and goal setting, and presentation skills and project management.
Current students can find more on the Pembroke Hub.
Even if you do not consider yourself to have a disability, you may still experience challenges relating to either your physical or mental health, or a specific learning issue. If this is the case, there is a range of support available to you whilst at university to facilitate your learning and ability to thrive on-course. The Disability Advisory Service in particular provides advice and guidance to all students; when you register with them, an advisor will discuss with you your experiences and expectations of study and support, and will consider how best to meet your needs in order for you to get on with your studies. This often involves a Student Support Plan, which recommends formal support structures to help you manage a condition, but they can also help you to be assessed for a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), and assist you in receiving extra support as a result. Whatever your particular needs you will be seen as an individual and provided with a range of options for your specific needs.

Rob structured the session around my exact concerns, which I thought was super helpful. This was a fantastic service, I wish I had used it earlier.
Dyedra gives really good advice on how to tackle issues you have. She's very organised and explains herself clearly and succinctly.
