International Chemistry Prize for Pembroke Fellow Ben Davis

NEWS |

Pembroke Fellow and Professor of Chemistry, Ben Davis, has been awarded the prestigious 2016 Whistler Award by the International Carbohydrate Organisation. The prize, awarded every two years in the field of Carbohydrate Chemistry, will be presented at the International Carbohydrate Symposium in New Orleans, USA, in July 2016.

The International Carbohydrate Organisation launched the Award in 1984 in honour of Professor Roy L. Whistler, to recognise scientists ‘who have made contributions of excellence in carbohydrate chemistry and biochemistry and with promise of continuing significant contributions’.

Professor Davis expressed his gratitude in an email to the College: 'The Carbohydrate Science community has been a wonderfully supportive group of friends, colleagues and collaborators. It's a cliche, but none the less true for that, to say that this is really an award not for me but for all those who have supported me in the group, in the university and in the college.'
