Reducing Consumption
The College community is encouraged to minimise energy usage for example by turning off unneeded lights and not leaving computers running unnecessarily. We encourage our students to get involved in the Student Switch Off; a not-for-profit campaign encouraging student action on climate change in University accommodation buildings.
The College’s central heating system – usually on from October until April/May (weather dependent) – is not left on 24 hours/day but is normally timed to be on for the necessary periods. We also encourage students to turn down their radiators if their rooms are empty for longer periods of time.
