Executive Assistant to the Master

Salary: £35,000-£38,000 per annum commensurate with experience.

Hours: Full time (37½ hours per week) - flexible working arrangements will be considered

The Master of Pembroke College Oxford, The Rt Hon Sir Ernest Ryder, is seeking an outstanding candidate to provide high level, professional and administrative support for all his College duties, including internal committees and governance, alumni relations, fundraising and external activities.

Founded in 1624, Pembroke is an inclusive and dynamic College based on a central site in Oxford that joins award-winning new developments with historic quadrangles. Pembroke’s Fellowship is forward-looking and its Governing Body has ambitious plans for the future, including a programme of events and public engagement to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the College’s founding.

The Executive Assistant is a pivotal role in the College, essential to the Master’s work as Head of the College, and central to the smooth operation of College administration. 

The post-holder will manage the Master’s diary so that he can work efficiently and effectively, will serve as the focal point for communications to and from the Master, and reporting to the Head of Governance will provide a wide range of policy, and administrative support to the Master, Fellows and the rest of the College. They will be in regular contact with all College departments, Fellows, students, academic visitors, alumni and prospective donors, as well as third parties within the collegiate University and beyond.

The post is ideal for someone who is motivated, organised and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, professional environment. The post holder should be an excellent communicator with tact, discretion and judgement, able to build and maintain close and effective working relationships.
