Dr Martino Bardelli
I am a postdoctoral scientist in the laboratory of Prof Simon Draper in the Department of Biochemistry, working on the development of immunological interventions against blood-stage malaria and viral infections. My current works combines viral vectors and monoclonal antibodies, both for P. falciparum and P. vivax. I am particularly interested in antibody delivery and engineering, as well in viral vectors.
Prior to joining the Draper group, I obtained a PhD in molecular virology from King's College London for my work on several aspects of adeno-associated virus biology, carried out in the laboratory of Dr Els Henckaerts and Prof Michael Linden. I hold an engineering MSc degree in Life Sciences and Technologies with a specialisation in molecular medicine from the Swiss Fedelar Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).
I am a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College, a guest lecturer on the Biological Therapeutics course, and I teach Biochemistry to medical students at Pembroke College.
