Celebrating Success: Omar Tsang

NEWS |

Omar Tsang (2016, Chemistry) recently graduated from Pembroke, excelling in his final exams and achieving the highest mark in his course across the entire University. We caught up with Omar, who shared with us his thoughts on his four years at Pembroke.

“I chose Pembroke as my college as the campus itself is simply gorgeous – whether it is the more historic Chapel Quad or the more recently established Rokos Quad. I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years at Pembroke as I got to meet other extremely bright and kind-hearted people outside of my area of study and it has benefitted me immensely.

The Chemistry course is quite intensive at times, but also highly rewarding in the end, as it allowed me to explore topics in so much more depth than I thought I ever could – in particular, the Part II year provided me with the amazing opportunity to investigate mechanically interlocked molecular architectures with one of the leading research groups at the university. I am extremely grateful for the guidance and support from my tutors at Pembroke, who were always there to guide and encourage me to strive for the best.

Aside from my studies, I have also participated in the inaugural StEP 2019 entrepreneurship competition, through which I co-founded a new university start-up, Quantum Dice.

The various opportunities at Pembroke allowed me to develop personally and professionally, allowing me to develop invaluable skills that will aid me in my next venture.”

This is the second article in our 2020 news series celebrating high performing Pembroke undergraduate students and recent alumni in their examinations. The first, which focuses on the collective exams success of the students this year, can be found here.
