PAST EVENT | 01 November 2018 09:00 - 30 November 2018 16:00

During November, the McGowin Library, Pembroke College, will be displaying a small exhibition in the library foyer cabinet on Pembroke alumnus and WWI poet Willoughby Weaving. Willoughby came up in 1905 and graduated in 1911, during which time he was mentored by the future Poet Laureate, Robert Bridges. He published his first book of poetry in 1913 and served during WWI which subsequently influenced his work. In 1920, with a colleague, he established Elm Park Preparatory School in County Armagh where he spent the remainder of his career until his retirement in 1954.

The Willoughby Weaving archive collection of original material has been donated to the College by the Weaving family and the published books in the display have been kindly loaned to us by Abingdon School.

All members of Pembroke college are invited to visit and peruse the exhibition.
