Student Maxi Grindley Wins JCR ‘Pembrokian of the Year’ Award

NEWS |

Congratulations to Pembroke student Maximilian Grindley for winning the ‘Pembrokian of the Year’ award! This award, organised by the JCR, is given to a student nominated by JCR members for “embodying everything that makes Pembroke great” and for contributing to College life over the course of the year.

The JCR President, Harrison Kaye, shared: “Maxi has been involved in College life in an absurd number of areas this year, from captaining the football team, keeping the JCR up to date with entertaining yet informative emails, jumping head first into the College musical, playing in rugby cuppers and all around being a welcoming presence around College. He’s always full of kind words and support, and there’s seemingly nothing he wouldn’t do to help out around the JCR.”

In some of their nominations, JCR members shared that Maxi is a “widely approachable person that talks to everyone, improving their day” and that he's “always a happy face around College to go and speak to.”

Following this award, Maxi (English, 2021) shared: “'I'm not quite sure what I've done to get this award, but I would hope it means I've played a small part in making the Pembroke community feel as welcoming and friendly for everyone else as I have found it to be for myself.”
