Pembroke Hosts First Open Days for 2023

NEWS |

We were delighted to welcome hundreds of prospective applicants and their supporters to Pembroke during the recent Oxford University Open Days!

On the 28th and 29th June, our Student Ambassadors handed out maps near the Oxford Train Station leading visitors to Pembroke College. Once visitors arrived at the Lodge, they were welcomed by our Academic Office Team, who were handing out copies of our Student Prospectus and College maps. Visitors were then given the option to take a tour with our Student Ambassadors, or to explore the College themselves.

While our Library and Dining Hall were both closed for refurbishment and sustainability work, prospective applicants were still able to see student rooms, quads and more. The Dining Hall will re-open in September 2023, after we have installed air source heat pumps and a draught door to reduce heating demand. This will save ~325,000kWh of gas usage per year, and 60tCO2e/a. The library will also reopen around the same time, with new study rooms for students, a workroom for staff and more.

After touring the College, visitors stopped by the Pichette Auditorium where our Subject Tutors were available for drop-in chats, along with our Academic Director Nancy Braithwaite who answered questions about admissions.

Subject Taster Talks were also given by our tutors in Medicine, Economics & Management and Engineering.

We look forward to holding another Open Day on 15th September, so make sure to keep an eye on our website and social media for details closer to the time.
