Congratulations to Pembroke Alumnus Dr Robin Jackson (1969, Classics) who has recently been elected to an Honorary Fellowship at the British Academy. The Honorary Fellowship, also awarded to former Pembroke Master Dame Lynne Brindley in 2015, recognises Robin’s contribution to research and learning over a long career.

After graduating from Pembroke, Robin obtained a PhD in Ancient Philosophy from Princeton University before teaching at universities in the United States and Australia. He later worked with Vice-Chancellors at Universities UK, and was a director at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

Robin was chief executive of the British Academy from 2006-2015, and returned from retirement for a second stint in 2019-2020. In 2014 he was appointed CBE for his services to scholarship.

Discussing the fellowship, Robin commented: “Election to the fellowship of the British Academy is the highest recognition for anyone in the humanities and social sciences. It was my privilege to serve the Academy, and I am deeply honoured to have been made an Honorary Fellow".
