Pathways to Board Roles - Oxford Women in Politics in Partnership with Pembroke College

NEWS |

On Saturday 30 January, the Pembroke College Annual Fund sponsored Oxford's first conference on enhancing women’s access and participation in the boardroom.

This groundbreaking conference, hosted by Oxford Women In Politics (OXWIP), attracted over 100 participants. The purpose of the conference was to provide a practical ‘how to’ guide for students, alumni and others, to help them become members of boards – whether it be in the private, public or the third sector. This innovative conference was developed by women for women with sessions led by academics, recruiters, and current board members.

The conference was designed as a thorough introduction to the information and skills necessary for effective board membership. The conference included the following panels: the case for gender diversity; pathways to board roles; financial acumen; and communication, networking and strategy.

OxWiP aims to empower and support ambitious young women who wish to pursue positions of leadership in politics broadly defined, including positions in public policy, academia and the private sector.
