MCR 2021 Summer Trip

NEWS |

The MCR Summer Trip is an annually funded trip for Pembroke College graduate students aimed to bring some fun to the long vacation. Students attend these trips free of charge and can even bring a guest along if there are available spaces. This year, our graduate students (or Middle Common Room ‘MCR’ as we refer to them) chose Bournemouth as their destination! They also went to Salisbury on their way and toured its famous Cathedral, known for having the tallest spire in the UK and housing the four original copies of the Magna Carta.

Ben Bréant, the current MCR President, described the trip afterwards:

"On the 18th of September, members of the MCR left Pembroke in the morning for their annual Summer Trip. The first stop was Salisbury Cathedral, where one of the last remaining copies of the Magna Carta is on display. After this intense cultural enlightenment, they had to rest at a local Pub for a well-earned lunch before heading to Bournemouth. There, the weather was absolutely lovely, and the water was not that cold (according to one of the students who was brave enough to dive in and swim). The students returned to Oxford in the evening with sun on their faces, chips in their stomachs, and sand in their shoes."
