Graduate Student Prizes

On 5th June the MCR held their annual Collingwood Banquet at which a number of special prizes were presented to graduate students:

The Wood Room Prize for a Short Story, this year on the theme Part of Pembroke went to Juan-Pablo Ruiz (2014, DPhil Biomedical Sciences) for Normative. The winning prose will be published in the Michaelmas edition of the student magazine Bullfrog.

The Blue Room Photography Prize was this year won by Julia Lefkowitz (2013, DPhil English) for Foliage, which will be hung on the photography wall of fame in the Blue Room

The 2015 W.H. Pembroke Prize for Service to the Community was awarded to former MCR President Robert O'Shea (2012, DPhil History).

Finally, the Collingwood Prize for academic achievement was shared by Jonathan Ross (third year DPhil student investigating novel strategies for the development of drugs for amyloid-based diseases such as Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and diabetes) and Rene Niehus (third year DPhil student researching bacterial evolution and the spread of antibiotic resistance genes).
