Dr David Zakarian releases new book on Armenian History

NEWS |

Dr David Zakarian, Associate Fellow in Armenian Studies at Pembroke, has released a new book titled ‘Women, Too, Were Blessed: The Portrayal of Women in Early Christian Armenian Texts’, which provides the first extensive study of the representation of women in fifth-century Armenian literature and historiography.

David’s book, which was released in January by Brill Publishing (Armenian Texts and Studies Series), specifically explores the lives and portrayal of women in early Christian Armenia. The research highlights the tendency of authors at the time to empower Christian women and promote them as role models to assist with the growth and preservation of the new religion.

More details on the book are available on Brill’s website.
