We are pleased to welcome author, journalist and Pembroke alumnus and Honorary Fellow Walter Isaacson (1974, Rhodes Scholar) to give a talk and Q&A on his new book The Code Breaker and his journey into biography.
Walter Isaacson has been chair and CEO of CNN, editor of Time magazine and President and CEO of the Aspen Institute. He is now Leonard Lauder Professor of American History and Values at Tulane University.
He is the author of the only commissioned Steve Jobs biography (Steve Jobs, 2011), along with bestselling biographies of Leonardo da Vinci (Leonardo da Vinci, 2017), Benjamin Franklin (Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, 2003), Albert Einstein (Einstein: His Life and Universe, 2007), and more. His other works include American Sketches (2009) and The Innovators (2014).
Walter Isaacson's most recent book, The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race (2021), tells the story of Nobel Prize winner Jennifer Doudna and her discovery of the gene-editing technology CRISPR.
