
Dr Eamonn Molloy
Eamonn is internationally recognised for his research and executive-level teaching in the areas of complex organisation design and technological change, with particular emphasis on the strategic dynamics of temporary project, programme and portfolio-based organisations, and the role of technology in professional and organisational change.
Eamonn has worked on research projects with numerous government bodies, including the National Health Service, the Department for Education and Skills, the Department for International Development and Ministry of Defence. He has also worked closely with many private-sector clients, including Cadbury Schweppes, Unilever, United Utilities, BNFL and major mining, oil and gas companies.
Outside his work, Eamonn is an Honorary Group Captain in 601 (County of London) Squadron RAuxAF, Chair of The RAF Central Fund charity and a part-time flying instructor at the West London Aero Club. He is an honorary fellow of the International Consulting Economists’ Association, and an associate fellow of the ESRC’s Centre for Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance.
He is regularly invited to speak to senior policymakers and business leaders on innovation, technological change and major programme management.
Eamonn runs his own Educational Advisory and Facilitation Services company, Dr Eamonn Molloy Ltd.
Teaching activities
Eamonn specialises in delivering executive education courses to a wide variety of clients. Currently he is principally involved with the Major Projects Leadership Academy.
Previous clients have come from the finance, infrastructure, aerospace, defence and high-tech start-up sectors.
In addition, Eamonn is an experienced executive coach, senior leadership team mentor, action learning set facilitator, strategy advisor and organisation design consultant.

Eamonn obtained his BSc in Environmental Studies at Lancaster University and University of California (Santa Cruz) in 1995. He then completed his PhD in Science and Technology Studies at Lancaster University in 1999. During this period, he worked as an assistant scientific officer at the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology, Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and as a research assistant for the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) Centre for the Study of Environmental Change (Lancaster).
Since completing his doctorate, Eamonn has held academic posts at the University of Warwick and the University of Bath, before joining Saïd Business School as a senior research fellow in 2002. He took up his current posts at Pembroke College and Saïd Business School in 2008. In addition, Eamonn is also a cohort manager and action learning set facilitator for the UK Cabinet Office’s Major Project Leadership Academy.

2011 - John Fell Research Grant awarded by the University of Oxford for a two-year project entitled Exploring the Affective Norms of Political Party Manifestos with Prof. Stephen Whitefield and Prof. Sara Hobolt (London School of Economics and Political Science). The research explores the emotional content of English language political party manifestos from the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland since 1918.
2011 Won the Diana Forsythe Award sponsored by the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) People and Organizational Issues Working Group for Molloy, E and Korica, M (2010) “Making Sense of Professional Identities: Stories of Medical Professionals and New Technologies” Human Relations, 63 (12). The Award honors the peer-reviewed article published during the previous year that best exemplifies the spirit and scholarship of Diana Forsythe's work at the intersection of medical informatics and the social sciences.

Eamonn’s current research focuses on bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to the understanding of temporary organisations.
- Exploring optimism bias and the planning fallacy in time estimation for task completion, and how this varies with task complexity, perceived levels of control and individual desire for control (with Dyedra Morrisey).
- Monsters as psychoanalytical tropes for understanding individual, group and organisational responses to perceived threats (with Chantal Baker).
- Exploring and interpreting the domain of the sky as place, rather than space.
