Translating Legal Obligations in Practice in Organ Donation & Transplantation

NEWS |

The inter-disciplinary workshop 'Translating Legal Obligations in Practice in Organ Donation & Transplantation' recently took place at Pembroke College, and was convened by Pembroke academics. Organised by Dr Farrah Raza, Pembroke Stipendiary Lecturer in Law and Head of the Minerva Research Group, the workshop sought to investigate how the law is translated in the clinical context in organ donation and transplantation.

Calls for legal reform in organ donation and transplantation in a number of jurisdictions, including in the UK and Germany, have resulted in different policy options. This workshop brought together academics, lawyers, and clinicians, and a patient representative in order to discuss how legal concepts such as 'informed consent' are understood and applied in practice.
