Pembroke Welcomes New Fellows

NEWS |

Pembroke’s cohort of First Years aren’t the only newcomers to be welcomed to College this Michaelmas; we are pleased to share that Professor Rebecca Mosher and Professor Yimon Aye have joined as our newest Tutorial Fellows and members of Governing Body!

Having read chemistry at Somerville College, Professor Yimon Aye obtained a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Harvard University before her postdoctoral fellowship in cancer research at MIT. Yimon established her independent laboratory in mid-2012 at Cornell University, prior to joining EPFL (Switzerland) in 2018. She has now returned to the Oxford Department of Chemistry where it all started and will be Pembroke’s Tutor and Fellow in Organic Chemistry as well as serving on the College’s Governing Body. Yimon’s research focuses on reactive small-molecule-driven cellular communication processes for drug discovery, biotechnology, and therapeutic interventions. Yimon’s full bio can be found here.

Joining us from the School of Plant Sciences at the University of Arizona, Professor Rebecca Mosher received her PhD from Duke University and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Sainsbury Laboratory and the University of Cambridge. Rebecca’s research focuses on the passing on of epigenetic information including DNA methylation from parent to offspring. Her research interests include plant systems, the influence of small RNA-mediated DNA methylation on seed development, and the possible transmission of small RNAs from mothers to their offspring to modify seed development. Rebecca’s lab combine traditional genetics with comparative genomics. Rebecca will be our new Tutorial Fellow in Biology and a member of Governing Body. Read more about Rebecca's work here.
