Pembroke Student Shortlisted for Oxford Student Union Awards

Congratulations to Pembroke Student Wantoe T Wantoe who has been shortlisted for two awards at the Oxford Student Union Annual Student Awards.

Wantoe was shortlisted for the College Community Award, which recognises those who have made their college a better space for other students, and for the Volunteer Award, which recognises students who have put time and effort into volunteering and showing their peers the value of this work.

At Pembroke, Wantoe is an active member of the Middle Common Room (MCR). He is part of our JCR/MCR mentoring scheme, he took part in the MCR Academic Symposium and he helped organise an event in College celebrating African heritage through music, food, and interactive activities. Wantoe also took part in organising a public policy symposium at the Blavatnik School of Government, and helped organise the 2023 Oxford African Conference

Wantoe shares: “When I enrolled at Oxford, my mission of service and growing in leadership was central to my objective. During my studies, I dedicated myself to promoting student consciousness and cultural integration. Pembroke College and the Blavatnik School of Government have been instrumental in shaping me and providing opportunities to grow and develop as a leader, both for my country and the world. As a student, I have engaged fully in diverse opportunities, contributing, and participating in student and community life.”
