Pembroke MCR launches second volume of the Pembroke Academic Journal

NEWS |

A group of Pembroke graduate students have recently come together to contribute to and edit the Pembroke Academic Journal, a forum for showcasing the diverse intellectual interests of our talented MCR community. This is the second volume of the Journal, following the success of the inaugural edition in 2023.

Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Benjamin Bréant (2019, MPhil International Relations), shares: “Leading the production of the Pembroke Academic Journal was immensely rewarding. The pieces presented here showcase not only the outstanding academic research conducted at Pembroke College, but also the dedication of our graduate community in managing and delivering a scholarly journal.”

The latest volume features pieces including a thoughtful comparison of texts by Mary Shelley and Samuel Taylor Coleridge as well as insights into maternal education and infant mortality in Pakistan; in the journal you will also find examples of creative writing produced by MCR members.

“Remembering the legacies of many literary giants who have graced these quads before, it has been a particular privilege to work with the current emerging literary voices of Pembroke—already distinct and evocative in their own rights,” shares Michelle Chong (2021, DPhil English), the journal’s Creative Writing Editor.

The MCR’s Academic Officer, Dane Luo (2024, DPhil Law), added: “I congratulate the contributors and editors for all their efforts in producing volume 2. I am excited to share that the process for volume 3 is now beginning.”

We would like to congratulate the MCR members involved on their hard work in publishing the Pembroke Academic Journal’s second volume and wish them the very best of luck for the third volume.
