Pembroke Finalists Excel in 2020

NEWS |

We are delighted to report that Pembroke undergraduate finalists have achieved fantastic results in their degree classifications.  The way in which this cohort adapted to the unprecedented situation presented by a global pandemic, including having to take the first online finals exams in the history of Oxford University, has made us all immensely proud.  Their outstanding results are a tribute to their continued hard work and scholarship.

Despite the lock-down of College in March in response to COVID-19, our students demonstrated great resilience and determination to continue to excel in their studies during our first ever virtual term. In the end of year exams a total of 43 students achieved 1sts, comprising just under half of all finalists. In addition to this, a number of our students also received academic prizes for being among the top performers across the university in their respective subject groups. For example, final year chemistry student Omar Tsang achieved the highest marks in his course across the entire university.

Our graduate students also achieved considerable success, with our MCR finalists earning a total of eight distinctions in finals. We are delighted that some of these graduates will be staying with us to further their academic research.

We would like to congratulate everybody who achieved highly in their finals exams. We extend our best wishes to those who have moved on from college in 2020, and look forward to following their future successes.

In the coming weeks we will celebrate some individual Pembroke success stories in a series of news articles: check back regularly for more from our exceptional students.
