Pembroke Fellow Nick Hawes appointed to government’s Robotics Advisory Group

Pembroke Fellow in Engineering Professor Nick Hawes was recently appointed to the DSIT Robotics Advisory Group, an expert advisory body established by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The group’s purpose is to advise the government on policies relating to robotics and autonomous systems (RAS).
Comprised of experts in robotics from a range of sectors, including academia, industry, trade bodies and end-user organisations, the group will offer insights into the UK’s robotics sector and its challenges, informing evidence-based decision making by government.

As well as a Tutorial Fellow at Pembroke, Nick is the Director of the Oxford Robotics Institute and Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He researches Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques for the creation of intelligent, autonomous robots that can work with or for humans.
