Pembroke alumnus produces new London play based on The Hunger Games

NEWS |

Pembroke alumnus and creator of popular TV programme Survivor, Charlie Parsons (1976, English), has produced a new play based on the hugely successful book and film series The Hunger Games

The play, titled “The Hunger Games On Stage”, recently premiered in London at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre to stellar reviews. The Guardian has described it as ‘a dazzling dystopia’, with The Independent echoing these sentiments, calling the production a ‘nerve-shredding, movie-style spectacle.’

Producing a play based on a dystopian book about teenagers battling it out in a deadly survival TV gameshow somehow seems a natural progression for the creator of Survivor. Since his time at Pembroke, Parsons has also brought to life other television hits including The Word, and The Big Breakfast, and has won eight Emmy Awards. He is also the founder of the The Great BBC Campaign and has developed and produced shows for the stage, including Never Forget, a successful production of Guys and Dolls, and Olivier Award-winning In the Heights.

For all the Hunger Games fans out there, this might be the play to watch this festive season. The production is now open for booking up to October 2026.
