Celebrating Success: Vith Ketheeswaranathan

NEWS |

Congratulations to Medicine student Vith Ketheeswaranathan (2018) who has just been awarded the Ayres Evans Prize ahead of his third year at Pembroke.

The prize, worth £250 and open to any Pembroke undergraduate studying medicine or physiological sciences, is awarded following the submission of a 3,000-word essay on a choice of topics decided by the Medicine Tutors.

Vith’s essay focused on whether viral diagnostics and treatment should be fast-tracked, with reference to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the previous Ebola pandemic. In particular, the essay looked at treatment drugs such as Remdesivir and hydroxychloroquine, as well as the trialling of COVID-19 antibody tests.

Reflecting on his achievement, Vith commented: “I am incredibly grateful to receive this award - thank you to the judges and my tutors for their support this year!”
