From Japanese to Journalism: Reflections from a Recent Leaver

NEWS |

Since graduating last year, Aimée Molineux (2016, Japanese) has delved into the world of medical journalism. We asked her to reflect on her time at Pembroke and her aims for the future:

"Pembroke will always remain important to me as I’ve made some of my closest friends for life within the college. Some of my fondest memories during my time at Oxford include attending the annual Nippon Dining event, held at Pembroke for Japanese Studies students and faculty members, as well as spending Trinity Terms having picnic breaks on the quad, watching the college ducklings waddle around the grass.

Pembroke, for me, has always felt like an inclusive and friendly college, and so I look forward to attending alumni events at college in the future and reconnecting with many familiar faces!

Since graduating in 2021, I’ve been working as an editor for News-Medical.net, an open-access medical and life sciences hub, where I publish news, articles and interviews with leading researchers and thought leaders in the sciences. In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to travel internationally, as well as conduct interviews with researchers worldwide, learning more about amazing medical breakthroughs and advancements in the life sciences. It is a really fulfilling career for me, and I hope that one day soon I’ll also be able to combine my Japanese language skills with my role, perhaps at a conference or during an interview!"
