Textual Strategies for Elucidating the Universe

Early Text Cultures at Oxford is delighted to present a day of presentations and discussion exploring the literary and conceptual strategies employed by early cosmogonic and cosmographic texts from across the ancient world. The programme will cover a great range of cultures, from Greece and Rome to the Near East and China, as well as investigating a range of topics, including metaphysics, empire, origins, epics, mythical geography, and conceptualisations of space.
This is a one-day symposium looking at Early Cosmological literature which will take place on Saturday 3rd March, 11am-5pm in the Pichette Auditorium, Pembroke College, Oxford.
Tea and coffee provided. Attendance is free, however places are limited. Please RSVP with Eventbrite and refer to the Facebook event for notices.
