Ruba Abughaida will be reading from Paths and Passageways, poems which explore the shifting landscape of cultural and social issues, inspired by the ways of life of the people and places in them. She also

Her writing has appeared or will appear in several publications in Lebanon, the U.K., and North America, including Inkapture, On the Premises, Noah, Wales Art Review, Thresholds, The Rusty Nail, Squalorly, Sukoon, and The Laurel Review. In 2014, her short story The Sirocco Winds won first prize in the Writer and Artists’ Yearbook Historical Fiction Competition.
She has collaborated on translation projects in English and Arabic with London-based Iraqi poet Adnan Al Sayegh and Oxford-based poet Jenny Lewis (Poetry for Peace Anthology: Words Against War by Young People of Oxfordshire; Who Can Climb the Sky: A Cross Cultural Theatre Piece performed in English and Arabic; Books by Jenny Lewis: Even At The Edge of the World; The Flood; Singing for Inanna; Taking Mesopotamia). Ruba was born in London. She also lived in Kuwait and Cyprus before her family emigrated to Montreal in Canada.
