Most recently she has been making programmes for the US via National Geographic and ABC/Hulu but during her three decades in broadcasting she has worked for the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, ITV and the Guardian, variously as a journalist, producer/director and reporter. After living in London, on the south coast and abroad, she returned to Oxford 4 years ago and with her partner, renovated a student house in order to pretend to live in the city as a grown-up this time, with her dog, piano and paddle board.

Kate Surala (2016, MSc Law and Finance)

At the age of 12, Kate went to court to watch her mother represent children as a social worker. Inspired by what she saw, Kate went on to receive a LLB in European Law from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and a MSc in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford at Pembroke College.

Today, Kate is working as a Head of Investment Compliance Advisory at M&G in London and is a co-author of a book called Unleash Today on female empowerment.

Before, she spent three years at a boutique equity research firm in London helping the business to double its revenue and staff by leading the legal and compliance team. As recognition of her achievements, Kate received the Management Today's 35 Women Under 35 award in 2019, was shortlisted for the Women in Finance 2020 Awards, and the Women in Financial Advice Awards 2020.

Kate loves dancing, yoga, and cats.
