Integrated Approaches to Solving Demographic Puzzles in Ecology

This event is free and open to the Pembroke community. The lecture will be followed by a drinks and canapes reception. 

Ecological systems are complex, making it difficult to accurately forecast future outcomes. When scientists claim with certainty that climate change is driving a species to extinction, they run the risk of extrapolating far beyond their data, making inaccurate predictions, and losing society’s trust in science. This lecture aims to present research underlying the complexity of how species are affected by, and respond to climate change. Even the poster-child of deleterious climate change does not always respond in the dramatic ways depicted by the media.
