How can I get involved?

The Thames and Cherwell Buildings on the existing Geoffrey Arthur Building (GAB) Annex site, have been designed to deliver key energy-saving principles and performance. For example, the buildings will have:
- a measurable carbon emissions reduction of a minimum of 25%, through energy efficient boilers, maximising natural ventilation, natural lighting, high performance glazing, and utilising waste water heat recovery technology[1];
- the pre-installed infrastructure to insert alternative energy supplies to gas when new technologies become viable;
- ultra-low energy lights and ‘absence detection’ lighting to ensure that lights automatically dim or turn off should users forget to do so;
- new, secure bike storage to encourage and help facilitate carbon-neutral travel for residents;
- a new bio-diverse internal garden/Quad.
Over summer 2023 we are installing air-source heat pumps at the GAB to reduce our carbon.
The Rokos Quad on Pembroke’s main-site currently hosts:
- LED lighting units to reduce energy consumption where possible;
- a ground source heat pump, used as a primary hot water and heating source;
- high performance glazing and maximised natural lighting to reduce further carbon emissions;
