Originally from Southern Germany, I studied German and Theology at the University of Eichstätt, came to Oxford as a graduate student to St. Edmund Hall where I specialised in the area of Medieval German Mysticism and, funded by the British Academy, completed my MSt in Research Methods in Modern Foreign Languages in 1998 and my Staatsexamen in Germany in 1999.

In the following years, after my PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages at the MMU, I taught German in the contexts of Secondary School and Adult Education near Manchester, before returning to Oxford in 2013.

I was first attracted to translating when I completed my Latin A-Level coursework on the very different ways of translating Ovid’s Ars Amatoria.

Since 2013, I have been teaching Translation into German. I now teach St. Peter’s, Hertford, Queen’s, New College, Oriel, Jesus College, Brasenose, Merton and Pembroke students of all years of study. I also offer German grammar classes, tutorials to visiting students of different levels of German and lessons in business German.
