Arwed Buchholtz (Philosophy, Politics and Economics, 2014) has received a scholarship from Studienstiftung, Germany’s largest, oldest and most prestigious scholarship foundation. The Foundation supports ‘the university education of young people who, on account of their exceptional academic or artistic talents and their personalities, can be expected to make an outstanding contribution to society as a whole.’

Congratulations to Arwed, who underwent an extensive selection process in which he proved his outstanding academic and personal abilities and potential. The scholarship will enable Arwed to access lots of academic events, and also supports his tuition and living costs whilst at Oxford.

We caught up with Arwed to hear more. He commented:

“I am very thankful for the many new opportunities the scholarship of the Studienstiftung will give me over the next years. It is an honour to be selected from a large pool of inspiring and outstanding students. Not only the financial support, but also access to challenging academies, academic events and support for further studies will surely help me grow personally and academically.

All the support that I am receiving, I believe, gives me a responsibility to give back to the communities I am part of and to make a positive impact in the world, which I will continue to do in the years to come. I want to especially thank my tutors Stephen Whitefield and Matthias Dilling who have made the application possible in the first place and have supported me throughout the process."
