Trinity Prize Ceremony 2022

At our Trinity Prize Ceremony on 14th June 2022, fourteen students received awards in recognition of sporting excellence, academic achievement and contribution to College life. Prizes were awarded by the Master and the Academic Director, who were joined at the event by Fellows, tutors and members of the Academic Office and Alumni Relations teams.

Sir Roger Bannister Scholarship and Prizes

This award, given in memory of former Master of Pembroke, Sir Roger Bannister, is given annually to a student or students who display excellence in sporting and academic activities. This year’s winner was Daniel Miller (2019, French and Arabic) who, alongside placing among the highest in his cohort for EMEL, has reached the highest national and international University level in Australian Rules Football since arriving in Oxford.

Daniel was joined by four additional winners of a Sir Roger Bannister Prize, also recognised for sporting and academic excellence:

  • Ryan Fincham (2019, Jurisprudence) – Boxing
  • Jess Dunmore (2019, English Language and Literature) – Netball
  • James Forward (2020, PPE) – Rowing
  • Rushil Shah (2020, Economics and Management) – Water polo

We were delighted to have Lady Moyra Bannister present at the ceremony to congratulate the winners personally.

Technos International Prize

Awarded annually in recognition of the relationship between Pembroke College and the Technos Foundation in Japan, this prize is given to a final year student with high academic achievement and who has shown special commitment to the cause of international understanding. This year’s winner is Parin Ravichanthiran (2019, PPL), who was nominated by his tutors, Professor Hannah Smithson and Dr Rebekah White.

Pembroke Award for Academic Community Building and Achievement

This award has been created to celebrate students who have made an outstanding contribution to College academic life. Eight final-year students received the award on the recommendation of their tutors, with the Academic Director and subject tutors speaking about the achievements and attributes of each at the ceremony.
