Samuel Hopkins wins Instrumental Award
NEWS |
Congratulations to Samuel Hopkins (2018, Music) who has recently received the instrumental award for the upcoming academic year.
The award, worth £300, is awarded to the applicant who demonstrates the highest level of musical talent using any instrument, excluding the organ. Samuel was given the award following a 20-minute recital on Double Bass, playing along to a copy of the piano accompaniment sent by Music tutor Dr Newbury, which was then sent in via video audition. The judges were impressed with Samuel’s performance, with one judge assessing that his ‘level of musicality is beyond question’.
Upon receiving the award, Samuel commented: ‘I am very pleased to have been awarded the Instrumental Award for 2020-2021. Music is large part of my life and I'm so glad to have the opportunity to use it to share music around college.’
