Prof Graham Layer elected to leadership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

Pembroke alumnus Professor Graham Layer (1971) has been elected as Vice-President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for a term of three years from November 2015.

Professor Layer has been a consultant breast and general surgeon since 1993 in Surrey, at Imperial and is now Visiting Professor of Surgical Sciences at Surrey University and at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. He is Director of Professional Standards and was previously Joint Medical Director.  In addition, he is currently Assistant Editor of the journal "The Surgeon", has a teaching portfolio and has held several visiting professorships abroad. He has served on the Clinical Reference Group of Monitor.

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is an organisation dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and advancement in surgical and dental practice, through its interest in education, training and examinations, its liaison with external medical bodies and representation of the modern surgical and dental workforce.
