At the 137th Golf Varsity Match, held at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, the Oxford Men’s Blues claimed victory against Cambridge with a scoreline of 9.5:5.5. Four of the Oxford players were Pembrokians, proudly representing their College and University.

Many congratulations to Heechan Chee (2023, Music), Haochen Wang (2022, MSt Global and Imperial History), Richard Heath (2025, MSc Major Programme Management), and David Ng (2022, Engineering Science) on their role in securing the win for Oxford.

The Golf Varsity Match took place on 27th and 28th March, with the first day being 36 holes of foursomes (alternate shot), and the second being 36 holes of singles. Each match is played hole by hole, rather than counting total strokes over the round. On each hole, the player (or pair) with the lower score wins that hole and goes “1 up.” If both sides take the same number of shots, the hole is “halved.” Once one side is ahead by more holes than remain, they secure the win.

Pembroke has had a strong presence in the Men’s Blues Golf Team in recent years, with Pembrokians having taken part in the past four Blues matches and David Ng captaining the Second Team, the Divots, to victory in 2024. Pembroke were also named Golf Cuppers champions last year.
