Pembroke Hosts Inspirational Teachers Awards

NEWS |

On Saturday 20th May we were pleased to welcome the winners of the Pembroke Inspirational Teachers Award to College for the JCR Guest Dinner!

In its second year, the Pembroke College Inspirational Teachers Award aims to recognise and celebrate teachers who have helped students from UK state schools or colleges gain a place at Pembroke College. The award is to thank them for what they have done and the difference they have made to the lives of our students, and to encourage them to continue this with future generations of state school students. Teachers are nominated by current Pembroke first- and second-year students.

This year we recognised 5 teachers from state schools across the UK for their support and guidance to our students. The teachers were praised for helping students to “realise that I had the potential to achieve more” and for “prompting me to think about Oxford as a viable option and reassuring me that I had the ability to apply.”

Nancy Braithwaite, Academic Director, shared: "It’s really inspiring to hear about the amazing work teachers from across the country are doing to inspire and motivate their pupils to love their subjects, and pursue their intellectual passions at Oxford. We are very grateful for the work they do, and to countless other teachers in Britain’s state schools and colleges, who make a difference every day."
