NEWS |
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Pembroke Fellow Professor Min Chen who has been awarded the 2024 VGTC Visualization Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognises his contributions to constructing a theoretical framework for visualisation and his outstanding work on its applications.
Min Chen began his academic career at Swansea University in 1984 before becoming Pembroke Fellow and Professor of Scientific Visualisation at Oxford in 2011. In 2016, he published “Information Theory Tools for Visualization” alongside his co-authors, the first book to take Information theory (IT) tools and the problems in visualization as its main focus.
Min and his colleagues have received several accolades for their research, including two best paper awards for their work on ontology-assisted visualisation creation and on visualisation-assisted machine learning, as well as a Test-of-Time award for work on the information-theoretic framework for visualization.
Min Chen is also a fellow of the European Computer Graphics Association, Learned Society of Wales, and the British Computer Society. In 2023, he was inducted into the IEEE VGTC Visualization Academy.
We are thrilled that Min Chen’s academic career and research has been recognized with such a prestigious award.
