Oxbotica to rival Google in driverless car technology: The Wall Street Journal

Pembroke Engineering Fellow, Professor Ingmar Posner, is co-founder of Oxbotica, a company which specialises in mobile autonomy, navigation and perception. Their technology enables robots, vehicles and machinery to map, navigate and interact with their surroundings. Applications range from hand held survey devices to autonomous vehicles.

Oxbotica was founded by Professor Posner and Professor Paul Newman – the leaders of Oxford University’s Mobile Robotics Group (MRG). MRG has licensed navigation software for use on Mars rovers, developed the UK’s first self-driving car, and been an influential innovator in the area of Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Oxbotica leverages the innovative work of MRG, enabling commercialisation with industry partners and applications of spin-off technologies.

In a recent write-up in The Wall Street Journal twelve top emerging tech companies in Europe and the Middle East are profiled. Oxbotica is described as "one of the few companies in the world to rival Google in driverless car technology".
