Junior Research Fellow secures new role at SOAS University of London

Congratulations to former Pembroke Junior Research Fellow Dr Chris Foster, who has secured a new role as a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at SOAS University of London, beginning this month.

Chris joined Pembroke as the Stanley Ho Junior Research Fellow in Chinese Studies in 2017. His research focuses on the intellectual history of China, particularly the role that ordinary citizens from China’s distant past played in the creation of many of China’s most famous scriptures. Having mainly focused on Confucian classics during his time at Pembroke, Chris’s research at SOAS University of London will primarily examine the medieval period.

Reflecting on his time at Pembroke, Chris commented; “Pembroke College is a very special place, for which I already feel deeply nostalgic. I am grateful to the faculty, students and staff of Pembroke, who have been a constant source of inspiration and have taught me so much. Being a member of Pembroke and the broader Oxford community has helped me to view my research in a fresh light, and has led me to a number of exciting new projects, including my British Academy postdoc topic. I have cherished my time here, and will look forward to visiting again soon!.”
