Irene Lee welcomed to Foundation Fellowship of Pembroke
NEWS |
The Master, Dame Lynne Brindley, welcomed Ms Irene Lee, her daughter Emily and son Nicholas, for a special visit to College on 29th November, in celebration of the election of both Ms Lee and her mother to Foundation Fellowships of Pembroke.
Ms Lee is the daughter of the late Harold H W Lee, who was a law student at Pembroke between 1928 and 1931. Harold Lee’s family – his widow Mrs Christina Lee and children Irene, Anthony and Marie-Christine – made a very significant benefaction to the College in his honour as part of the Bridging Centuries Campaign for the new buildings complex. The result of their generosity has been the successful completion of The Harold H W Lee Building and the stunning Harold Lee Room which it houses.
In recognition of the friendship and support received from the Lee family, Pembroke’s Governing Body elected both Ms Irene Lee and her mother, Mrs Christina Lee, to Foundation Fellowships, and the Master today presented Irene Lee with commemorative certificates to mark this special honour.
Dame Lynne commented “Irene Lee and her family have shown great warmth and generosity to Pembroke and it is a delight for the College to reciprocate by electing them to senior status within our community. The support which they have so willingly given to Pembroke has been crucial to its physical transformation and we look forward to sharing with them the joys of our newly enhanced College life.”
