Imagine Pembroke fundraising campaign launched

NEWS |

At the start of the summer, we publicly launched our most ambitious fundraising campaign to date: Imagine Pembroke.

As a new academic year approaches, we are excited to continue sharing our plans for Pembroke’s future with our community, from our staff and students to our alumni and academics.

Inspired by the achievements of Pembrokians past and present, our vision is to secure an environment where future generations are supported, equipped and inspired to make meaningful contributions in pursuit of the common good. We want to see Pembroke thrive as a global community with global impact.

At the campaign launch event, held at Goldsmiths’ Hall courtesy of former Master Dame Lynne Brindley, guests heard from the Master, The Rt Hon Sir Ernest Ryder; the Chancellor of the University, The Rt Hon Lord Hague of Richmond; and the Co-chair of Pembroke’s Campaign Board, Julian Schild.

Our speakers outlined the three pillars of Imagine Pembroke - Teaching Excellence, Realising Potential and Inspiring Brilliance – and the role that each will play in achieving our vision for Pembroke’s fifth century.

Plans include the endowment of Fellowships and the creation of a Tutorial Hub in Old Quad; a new state-of-the-art Research, Study, and Innovation Centre on the site of the Macmillan Building; the provision of research and innovation funds and graduate scholarships; and strengthened Access and Outreach work.

Pembroke today is shaped by our remarkable community of students and academics, a small number of whom spoke at the launch event to give a taste of their fascinating research. Percival Stanion DPhil Scholar, Alex Welch, spoke on mRNA technology, while Dr Catherine Jenkinson, Julian Schild Junior Research Fellow, shared her research on the Tower of London, and Professor Rebecca Williams, Blackstone-Heuston Fellow in Law, explained the ‘The HP Sauce Problem: when can our data be used to make decisions?’.

These talks offered a window into just some of the ground-breaking research that is enabled by the generosity of our supporters, and for which we now seek transformational philanthropy from our alumni and friends.

Our vision, at the heart of Imagine Pembroke, is of a fully integrated scholarly community where all students realise their potential and bring about positive change in our world. We look forward to partnering with Pembrokians and supporters around the world to see this vision come to life.
