Fortieth Blackstone Lecture Delivered by the Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Vos
NEWS |
Since 1976, Pembroke's annual Blackstone Society Lecture has provided audiences with the distilled thoughts of the most distinguished legal minds of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
In November we were delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice to deliver the fortieth Blackstone Lecture.

Before an audience of Pembroke law tutors, students, and alumni, as well as distinguished legal figures from across the University and beyond, Sir Geoffrey Vos asked the question: 'Are Rights Sufficiently Human in the Age of the Machine?' The full lecture is available to watch back on YouTube.
Following the lecture, Sir Geoffrey joined the Master and members of Pembroke's law community, including students, Fellows and alumni, for a dinner in Hall.

Sir Geoffrey Vos, who was appointed Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales in January 2021, has previously served as Chancellor of the High Court, a Lord Justice of Appeal, and President of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary, among other significant positions.
It was a privilege to welcome Sir Geoffrey to Pembroke for the occasion, and we would like to extend our gratitude for his insightful lecture and engagement with our community and visitors.
The 2024 Blackstone Lecture was kindly sponsored by Atkin Chambers.
