"Claiming Tradition" Islamic Studies Colloquium held at Pembroke

Pembroke Arabic Studies academics recently organised and hosted a colloquium entitled "Claiming Tradition: Modern Re-Readings of the Classical Islamic Heritage".  

The two day event, put together by Christopher Melchert, Elisabeth Kendall and Nicolai Sinai began with a keynote address by Professor Carole Hillenbrand (University of Edinburgh) Jihād and Iṣlāḥ in the 21st Century: Continuity and Change.
