Celebrating Success: Jess Dunmore

NEWS |

We are excited to be continuing our 2023 Celebrating Success series with Jess Dunmore (2019, English). Jess recently finished her studies at Pembroke, achieving a first-class degree. In recognition of her academic achievements to date, she has been awarded a Jeremy Forty Scholarship to support her graduate studies at Cambridge.

This generous scholarship is made possible thanks to a bequest from Pembroke alumnus Jeremy Forty (1951), who was passionate about supporting future generations of Pembrokians.

We caught up with Jess to congratulate her on her recent success, and to ask about her plans after Pembroke:

“Supported by the generosity of the Jeremy Forty scholarship, I am going to study an MPhil in English Studies at Newnham College, Cambridge, specialising in early modern literature with a specific interest in literature, the natural elements, and meditative melancholy. I have absolutely loved my time at Pembroke, and am incredibly grateful not only for the Jeremy Forty Scholarship, which will enable me to pursue my graduate research, but also for the opportunities and support I received throughout my undergraduate degree from all college members and staff: tutors, fellow students, and everyone who contributes to making Pembroke such a welcoming community.

I strongly believe in the value of research in the humanities, and feel humbled to have received the Jeremy Forty Scholarship which will give me the opportunity to expand my thinking and continue working with the texts I love at a graduate level.”
