Alumnus Professor Sir Chris Whitty Gives Lecture at Pembroke College

NEWS |

We were delighted earlier in Trinity Term to host Alumnus and Honorary Fellow Professor Sir Chris Whitty at Pembroke College. Professor Whitty (1985, Physiological Sciences) attended the annual Medics Dinner and delivered a lecture to our students, academics and staff.

Professor Whitty is Chief Medical Officer for England and Chief Medial Adviser to the UK Government. He has been hailed for guiding the country through the Covid-19 pandemic, appearing on regular televised news conferences and giving evidence to parliamentary bodies as well as continuing to work as a practising doctor, treating Covid patients in London's hospitals.

In his lecture, Professor Whitty discussed the relative roles of the state, the medical profession and the individual in preventing illness.

We look forward to welcoming Professor Whitty back to Pembroke again in the near future.
