'Poetry at Pembroke', a series of poetry readings taking place throughout Trinity term! 

The series has been organised by Dr Peter King, Lecturer in Philosophy at Pembroke. Performances take place every Monday evening at 6pm between 23rd April - 11th June.

Paul Deaton was born in London and raised in Wales.  His Seren collection A Watchful Astronomy is a Poetry Book Society Winter Recommended Book 2017 and a Jen Campbell read of 2017.  Runner-up in the Arvon International Poetry Competition 2010, winner of the SaveAs Writers International Poetry Prize 2016, and more recently shortlisted for the Wolverhampton Poetry Prize 2018.  His work appears regularly in The Spectator, is included in York Press for G.C.S.E.  poetry study guides, and in various magazines & anthologies including PN Review, The London Magazine, The Dark Horse, and New Boots & Pantisocracies.  Eyewear published his pamphlet Black Knight (2016).  A marathon runner, he is a counsellor in addictions and works for the N.H.S. in Bristol.

Sue Leigh read English at London University, and completed her doctorate at the University of Aberystwyth.  She worked for Faber for a number of years before leaving London and settling in rural Oxfordshire.  She now works as a freelance writer, and as a part-time tutor at Rewley House, Oxford University’s department of continuing education. 

Her poems have been widely published in magazines and journals.  A new collection, Chosen Hill, is published this year by Two Rivers Press.
